Frequently Asked Questions

A Segway Personal Transporter (PT) is a self balancing transporter designed for one person and manufactured by Segway Inc in the state of New Hampshire. The Segway PT has gyroscopes build in the base that communicate with the computer on board to respond to your movements and adjust the wheels to the motion of your body. It's easy to learn how to drive and most riders said that is much easier than learning how to ride a bike.

No, we don't always visit wineries. The Segway Wine County Tour visits a winery, but for those that don't want to visit a winery, you can do the Livermore Trails tour.

We carefully selected wineries based on their service reputation, wines selection and proximity to trails and scenery. Here some additional information about wineries:

  • We visit Mitchell Katz Winery, Cuda Ridge, Las Positas and Wente
  • Some wineries are open 7 days a week (Mitchell Katz and Wente)
  • Other wineries are open only over the weekend)
  • Wine tasting hours start around noon, thus our wine tour starts at 1:30pm
  • Wine tasting fee ranges between $10 and $25
  • Occasionally we don't have access to wineries due to special events, such as Members Only events
  • If you want to go to a specific winery (not listed), we may be able arrange it

  • Please bring your id (just in case)
  • Wine tasting fees vary depending on the day and winery

Yes, you can, but not while you are riding. We will make stops, and our staff will assist you to take pictures. We can also take pictures or video during the tour and Airdrop them or share them in the cloud with you

In order to avoid cancellation fees we require a 72 hour notice for any cancellation or change. No shows are not refundable. We encourage to check our terms, conditions, cancellation and privacy policies.

All tours are rain or shine events, our transporters can operate in the rain or in hot days. However, we reserve the right to cancel a tour at our own discretion, in such case, you will get a notice as soon as possible and a full refund. Do not assume that the tour will be canceled, call us at (925) 337-6323 for any questions or concerns.

Our personal transporters cannot go faster than 12.5mph, that is a factory setting that has to follow federal regulations. So the fastest you might go is up to 12.5mph, however we might set a slightly lower speed depending on the person or group.

Our most popular tours are between 2 and 2.5 hours, depending on where we go and how many riders we have. We assign 15 to 35 minutes for training. If you have a time constraint or concern let us know, we can try to accommodate your needs.

Wear comfortable clothes that matches the weather (of course), but we wouldn't recommend loose sandals, or high heals, long skirts or anything that can touch the floor. Yes, you have to wear a helmet when you are riding, is part of the requirements. We will provide it.

Yes, you can tip your guide(s). In California is customary/tradition to tip people that provide you with a personal service, specially if they did a great job. Any amount is appreciated, but a general rule is 15% to 20% of the cost of your tour. Tips are always appreciated but never expected.

A group tour is one that can not be booked via our booking engine. It can be because it needs special time arrangements, or because it needs to take place outside our standard tour route. We have created custom tours for small and large companies from all over bay area. Give us a call and we can help you arrange a group event that fits your needs.

A Private tour means that only your party can be part of it. A private tour can be 2 to 8 persons. There is a $50 fee to make your tour a private tour, it allow us to assign a personal guide.

We have hosted large groups for many of the biggest companies in Silicon Valley and the rest of San Francisco Bay Area. Group tours can range from 8 to 45 riders. We work with you so that your schedule can fit the tour, wine tasting and culinary needs.

Yes, depending the location. Some places require a permit for use to operate. Give us a call to discuss what you have in mind. If the event is inside a private property, we just need approval from the landlord or venue. We are insured to operate outside Livermore.

For very large groups we use a different format, we bring a number of Segway PT's, setup a smaller circuit at the venue, and try to get all your guest to ride and have a great time. We are flexible and have experience doing groups of over 150 people.

It really depends on the size of your group, but generally this is the process for small and large groups:

  • Call us at (925) 337-6323
  • Let's make sure the day/time is available
  • Let us know what you have in mind
  • We coordinate your schedule with all other activities
  • Reserve your event with a 50% deposit
  • You will get an email with a safety video and release forms for all riders
  • Remaining 50% is due 2 weeks prior to event
  • Get ready to have fun!

Some wineries charge a different rate for groups of 8 or more, they may also charge an additional fee that allows them to get extra staff and assign somebody for your group. We disclose all this information prior to your booking and make the required reservations for you.

The maximum speed is set based on federal law that limits for personal assisted mobility devices which limits them to 12.5mph. The idea behind that speed limit is that it can only go as fast as an average adult can run. Segway PT enforces that speed electronically.

Ninebot acquired Segway Inc in 2015. Segway Inc., manufactures mainly the Segway PT line of products and the Patroller line which includes the i2, x2, XT, HT, SE-3 and SE models. In other words Segway Inc manufactures the commercial or professional level products. Ninebot produces the consumer line of products which include the mini-pro, ES1, W1 e-skates and many more.
